Simple Leaf Love – August 2018 Mish Mash CKAL

Gauge Swatch:

4st & 6 rows equal 1in in worsted weight yarn with a US 8 (5.00mm)

– Worsted weight yarn
– US 8 5.00mm or needle to produce gauge.
– 6 stitch markers (2 sets of the same color & 2 separate colors not of the sets)

– This is going to be a fairly simple month, but it is lace work. You will be creating a beautiful lace leaf that grows the more repeats you make.

– Like will all my patterns take out the borders & repeat the patterns & you can make blankets, scarves, basically anything.

K – knit
P – purl
PM – place marker
SM – slip marker
YO – yarn over {}
K3TOG – knit 3 stitches together {}

Cast on 36 stitches I used long tail {}, but feel free to use your choice of cast on.

Row 1 (RS): Slip first stitch with yarn in front as if to purl. Knit 3, place stitch marker, Knit 28, place stitch marker, knit 3, with yarn in front slip the last stitch purl-wise.

Row 2 (WS): Knit first stitch through the back loop, knit the rest of the way across
including the last stitch.

Row 3 & 4: Repeat rows 1 & 2 slipping the markers as you come to them.

From now on the first & last stitch will be treated as thus & no longer mentioned in the pattern:
RS: slip first stitch purl-wise with yarn in front, complete pattern till last stitch. With yarn in front slip the last stitch purl-wise.
WS: knit first stitch through the back loop, complete pattern till last stitch. Knit the last stitch as you normally would knit a stitch.
This will create a smooth edge that you will use to join the squares later.

Row 5 (RS): Row 5 (RS): K4, pm (this should be the one that starts your right side for me it is a green one *left to right*), P2, pm (pink one), K10, pm (lime one), P2, pm (other lime one), K10, pm (other pink one), P2, pm (orange to signal the wrong side starting), K4. *see below for how my markers are set up. My green marker marks that I am starting on the right side*

R6 (WS): Knit the knits & purl the purls. You will also be purling any YOs you come to.

Row 14 (WS): Repeat Row 6

Repeat rows 5 – 14 until until your piece measures 1 in shorter then 9inches. Remember not to add the stitch markers that I tell you to in Row 5 just slip those markers. My square has 4 repeats so I would imagine if your guage matches mine that is how many you need.

Then repeat rows 1-4 once & then bind off using your choice of bind off. I normally use a basic knitting bind off {} the first video for a square like this. Just do your best to keep your tension even.
