It’s The End! Mish Mash KCAL 2018

Dear Mish Mashers,

Hev and I thank you for going on this adventure with us. We have learned A LOT about pattern writing and how to conduct a KAL/CAL/KCAL. We had fun and we hope you did as well.

This PDF for the assembly and border will not be available on Ravelry. I plan on compiling all 12 months of clues into one book which will be released towards the end of 2019. Depending on the size of the PDF will determine if the book will be available on Ravelry. This PDF will remain on until I get this book done and published. The squares will remain separate on Ravelry for you.

I hope to have all 3 possible versions of this blanket ready as well at the same time. I plan on releasing this as another KCAL in the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020. I hope to have better estimated on the needs of yarn, etc.

With that being said and done – if we ever decide to do another KAL/CAL/KCAL in the future we hope you will join us!

Heather & Jessica

Without further ado please go to for the assembly & border pattern. Since it is not a complete pattern the PDF can’t be uploaded to Raverly so it is able to be downloaded directly from the site here. Just go to the page and it will direct you to where to get the PDF.

2018 CAL KAL Mish Mash

Jess and I have come up with a crochet/knit along for 2018! Here is the information:

CAL Host: Jessica and jessika on Ravelry
KAL Host: Hev and Hev on ravelry

Hev will be our knitter and Jessica will be our crocheter. Each month 2 patterns will be released – 1 by Hev & 1 by Jessica. We will start off with easy/basic squares as an introduction to to knitting and crocheting. Each month the squares will get harder in skill. we want those not comfortable with knitting and/or crocheting to build up skill as time goes on. We will post links to YouTube or other places if we feel they are needed. If you need help post a comment on that months post. Your email is required to be able to post a comment but that is only to prove you are an actual person — it’s a spam prevention measure. We will NEVER use your email for anything unless we reply to you personally to your comment.

General Information:

Square size: 9 inch
Yarn: Worsted weight
Amount of yarn needed: We haven’t figured this out yet. We figure at least one 7oz skein of yarn per color you use. The less colors you use the more yarn you need of the colors you use.
# of colors needed: at least 1 – no more then 5.
Needle/Hooks: Will be decided by each pattern.
Gauge: Will be decided by each pattern.
Pattern file type: PDF downloadable from Ravelry. Possibly on Hev’s & Jessica’s sites.
Size of the finished blanket it hasn’t been decided yet although we know it will be 36 inches wide and 40 inches long (4 squares wide x 5 squares long).

Pineapple Blanket

**No one faint! I have actually typed up a blog post, lol**

Around the start of 2014 Jessica had a wonderful idea of doing a Crochet-A-Long with Grace & me. Even though I am not a huge fan of crochet I decided I would do it also. My original plan was just a small lap blanket for Brenda & would only need about six (6) squares. Little did I know what I was getting myself into. As I was working on it Brenda asked if I could make it bigger? I naturally said yes, how big did she want it? Queen size with overlap. Whoa! So I said sure & got to making my squares. I got 6 done, then did the math. I would need 36 squares! I just about flipped out cause I knew that this would take me forever to do but I said I would do it & continued to make squares. Now I can only crochet for a certain amount of time before it starts to drive me batty & I have to go back to my knitting. That is why it took me almost three (3) years to complete the blanket. It is completed now & it will take a lot of convincing to me to make another queen size crochet blanket. Brenda loves it so that makes it all good.
