Book Review: A Court Of Thorns And Roses

Title: A Court Of Thorns And Roses
Author: Sarah J. Maas

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it…or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and George R. R. Martin, this first book in a sexy and action-packed new series is impossible to put down!

My Review

I was recommended this book by GoodReads and since it sounded interesting I borrowed it from my local library. It was well worth the read. Though it is labeled as “young adult” I would want to make sure that your “young adult” was at the older stage. There are sex scenes in this book and though they are not graphic I would not feel comfortable with a teenager around 12-13 reading it unless they were mature for their age, but that is the parent’s choice not mine.

This book has a very fantasy feel for it and you latch on to Feyre very quickly in the book and you feel the roller coaster of her emotions and the love she feels for Tamlin. The things she has to do to keep that love and for the rest of the fae. Amarantha requires horrible things for Feyre to do in order to gt Tamlin back and save the Fae.

This book will grab you and refuse to let you go. I have already ordered the entire series from my local library and am currently reading book 2 (A Court Of Mist And Fury) and loving every minute of it.

Get a copy of this book if you like Fae and fantasy books. Heck, get it even if you don’t like that type. It is diverse enough I believe you will enjoy the read.
