To-Do List

I just looked at my To-Do list & I am just about overwhelmed with it all, lol. For all pattern links you will need to be logged into Ravelry.

  • Wesley’s Overalls – 80% finished – pattern
  • Wesley’s Cardigan – going on the back burner & then knit at a larger size – pattern
  • Jerratt’s Baby Blanket – got the yarn & I think I am going to make this: – pattern
  • Emily’s Wedding gift – has to be done by October
  • My Shawl – waiting on the yarn – pattern
  • Doe Eye – shawl that will be for sale – pattern
  • Mittens – for me, but I haven’t settled on a pattern yet that I want to make. Well, I have, but don’t think I am skilled enough to make it.

This is only the craft to-do list. The other list has about thirty items on it to be done. I never catch up at all, lol. But if I ever did then I don’t think I would know what to do with myself. But I thought I would let you all know where everything is & why I am not a huge presence online. I am always there, just may not be twittering or commenting.

Knitting, Crochet, & Cross Stitch Rut

I am in a huge size rut of my own making. I need to finish Frederick, but my Cross Stitch bag has a huge (about ten inches) rip in it that swallows my stitching. Well, I have the choice of spending at least $20 on a new diaper bag (that is what I normally use) or make me one. I decided to make one with cotton yarn, plastic canvas, & fabric. Well, I have most of the granny squares completed, then I get to sew them together. Then block them & then cut out the 7-mesh plastic canvas to stiffen the bag & then sew the lining & put it all together. My rut is simple. I also want to knit socks & just realized that it is the same stitch, just with more needles. I am like a kid in a candy store when I find something new out. I want to try it & a new craft is like candy to me. It is the same with Tunisian Crochet, I had to try it out. I now can do it & am still on the fence about it. As for the knitting socks, I have requested books & am planning on picking up sock yarn & double pointed needles this weekend. Hopefully that will calm my brain down enough to get my new xstitch1 bag completed. At least, I hope it will be enough. Also there is a pattern for fingerless gloves that I am dying to do that requires sock weight yarn so I will pick that up to. I foresee a break in my xstitching once Fredrick is completed, unless I get another commission. Though Callie wants me to crochet her a scarf so I may do that once Frederick is done. I am using my giant crochet shopping bag at the moment to hold my crochet & xstitching until I get the bag done & am honestly temped to just use it for the time being until I get Frederick done. It just doesn’t have a top & is unlined. But I have used it all day & nothing has come out yet, but it is soooo big & is meant as a shopping bag. Picture 100% cotton yarn in a size H crochet hook, 14 round granny square front & back with 7 round square sides & bottom. That is how big my bag is at the moment. HUGE  Replacing my cross stitching bag is my rut & I plan on finishing my homemade one soon.

1 xstitch means cross stitch

This Summer

I plan on using my “sense of touch” to the extreme level, lol.  I just re-learned how to knit so I am still working on that (remembering why I hate it). Plus I have about two crochet projects going on that I want to complete. Then my biggest project is of course Frederick. I am guessing by now you want to know how this deals with my sense of touch. Simple, did you know that different colors will feel different? :OO: They do. *stop looking at me like I am crazy* I can take a skein of white floss & a skein of another color and tell them apart by the feel of the floss. I may not be able to tell you what color it is, but I will be able to tell you that they are not the same color. Try it. Go on, try it, I will wait.

You back? Good. Did you feel it? Yes, good. You have a heighten sense of touch, not everyone does. That is why if you didn’t feel it you have a normal sense of touch. Nothing wrong with that. I can do the same thing with fabric & yarn. Which is why I can’t use wool, it irritates me, I don’t like the feel of the wool. Though I may branch into Alpaca (my father has a client that raises them). That is why I love working with cotton so much. I love the feel of the yarn & it doesn’t irritate my senses.

For example, micro suede. My father has about four winter shirts that he wears. Every time he wore them he couldn’t figure out why I kept rubbing his back or hugging him. Finally, Mom told him it was because I loved the feel of the fabric. When I was in the hospital he brought one up for me to sleep with since it smelled like home & I could rub my face in it. *huge anxiety & panic attacks in the hospital* Since then, I have have bought a comforter that is micro-suede & I sleep with it all the time. My parents joke that I am like a feline & purr. :yikes: Kind of like this cat in the basket:

Yeah, if you haven’t guessed, I am in a crazy goofy mood today.

Whew! Slow Down Life

Everything is moving so fast. I don’t know how to keep up. Dad & I are getting used to being without Mom hate it. The worst part is that we are both the type of person that “goes with the flow” & so choosing where to go or where to eat is difficult because both of don’t really care. Needless to say it can take us all day to choose something, lol. The main thing we both agree on is Mom.

Mother Update

Mom is still in the hospital. The doctor’s still give her less then 10% chance of making it out alive. If she makes it then it will be to a long term skilled care facility. That was not what we (Dad & I) or mom wanted, but if she is willing to do it then I am not going to complain.

She actually seems to be willing to work with physical therapy this time around & she is telling us (mouthing since she doesn’t have the speech valve on the trach tube yet) that she is hungry & wants to drink. So that is wonderful. Yesterday she actually agreed to let them sit her up on the side of the bed. She only sat for a couple of minutes, but she sat up & wasn’t bitchy or fighting with them to do it. This is a wonderful thing.

Though I hate to be pessimistic, I am so afraid that this is just the calm before the storm. I just have this feeling that she is going to move backwards again & if she does move backwards she will give up completely. If she codes out again, the doctors don’t think she will come out of it again. Her heart already has a flutter in it & her lungs & brain already have been damaged. Unfortunately, we don’t know how badly they have been damaged. I am just terrified that my best friend is going to die on me & there is nothing I can do to stop it. I am just taking everything one day at a time & praying that I get to keep her for a little longer. I don’t know what else to do.

I am planning on making hats for myself & possibly to sell, though I doubt if any will get sold cause I will probably give them away, lol. I bought the yarn just because I loved the colors in it. I had no idea what to use it for until I saw the hat on Raverly. Then I knew what it was going to be used for.

If you remember I was going to make a quilt for my double bed out of the colors of Water & Earth. Well, I got four blocks down & just can’t tell myself that the colors go together so I am using the yarn for other small projects.

My Dad bought me two new crochet hooks. They are normal metal hooks from the flat up & bamboo below. Since the bamboo is a thicker handle it doesn’t make my hand cramp when I crochet all day. So far I have a G (4.0mm) & a H (5.0mm). Dad says that as I need other sizes he will get them. These are made by Susan Bates. The only two brands I have access to are Broyle & Susan Bates. I can interchange the use of either brand, though I prefer Susan Bates. I love the thicker handle of my new hooks. :luv: :luv: :luv:

Cross Stitch

I have finally gotten started on Lori’s commission. Frederick has his own place in the galleries now so you can visit him there, lol. I am going to have a hard time letting this one go, I know. Want to know why? This is the design.Clicking on the picture will take you to the gallery page.

Crochet, Cross Stitch, & Misc.

Ok, this post is picture intense so it may load a little slow. I have finished & started new projects on both crocheting & cross stitching, so it is picture time.

Pulled Taffy Hat & Scarf

I had planned to make this set for myself, but when I got the scarf finished it was too narrow for me. I like my scarves to be very wide so they can act like hoods in the cold. So I decided to go ahead and make the hat & then sell them. I haven’t got the selling page up yet, but I thought I would go ahead & show you the pictures of them.

Project Linus

My mother crochets a lot. She makes me look very bad with my crocheting. She is also quite quick with hers. The only thing is that she likes to crochet for charity. Well, the charity that she was making baby blankets for wasn’t working out, so I launched myself into the charity world to find Mom a new baby blanket charity for her. I came across Project Linus & hit jackpot. Here is the mission statement of Project Linus:

Project Linus is comprised of hundreds of local chapters and thousands of volunteers across the United States. Each volunteer and local chapter all work together to help us achieve our mission which is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”

So I talked to Mom & now we are “Blanketeers”. There is a local chapter in Springfield which is only about 45 minutes away & since we go to Springfield all the time we can just drop off our blankets & away we go. I normally do not make big projects in crochet cause I get bored with it very fast. But while I was making the Pulled Taffy hat & scarf, I actually bought a pamphlet afghan book. I am crazy cause I only like making bags & other quick items in crochet. But I fell in love with the afghans in the book & decided to actually bought the yarn to make a baby blanket using one of the patterns in the book. Did I mention that it is also a Granny Square? No, well it is & Granny Squares go really really fast for me, so I am actually managing to stick with this blanket. I choose horrible colors (to me, I hate these colors together), but supposedly babies see these three colors the best. I am also using an “x” stitch so the blanket has some texture to it which the baby should love to feel & play with. So here are the pictures of the blanket.

Black, white, & red. Blegh, I hate those colors together. I don’t mind them so much separately but together they don’t work for me. These pictures are actually about three days old. I have actually started on the second round of the pattern color. So instead of just white, red, white, & black. I am actually to white, red, white, black, white, & red. The only thing that Project Linus says is that the blankets need to be 30 inches big & not to many big holes. Well, one pattern round (white, red, white, black) equals a little over 10 inches, so I only have two more pattern rounds to go.

Ink Circles – By the Full Moon

I have finally finished the stitching on this piece. I didn’t think I was ever going to finish it, lol. The trees were a challenge for me. I had to re-do the right one several times cause I kept trying to make the same branch several times, lol.

Now all I need to do is drag out my purple felt, & the orange ribbon, sew it all together & then hang it. Poof! it is done, lol. If only it was that simple.

Stash Explosion

1-2-3 Stitch recently had a 20% off sale on Ink Circle designs. Since Tracy was so nice to tweet about it, I just had to go check it out. Well, I manage to walk away with only four charts. Three Ink Circles & a Dimensions Gold Petites that I had been looking at for about a year. I am quite proud of myself. There were 20 charts in my basket & I weeded them down to four. So I feel like I did a really good job of it. Though my wallet doesn’t agree. Wanna see what I got? Sure you do.

Now I just have to keep my wallet closed until we go on vacation so I can go a little crazy at Silver Needle in Tulsa, OK when we go on vacation in April or May. Though I honestly don’t need anymore charts. I really need to stock up on fabric & floss, but I usually don’t do that until I am ready to start stitching. sigh I guess we will have to wait & see what happens on vacation.

Disability Proceedings

Well, I was denied my first go around, so my lawyers & I are preparing for the second go around. But I am honestly wondering if it isn’t all a big pile of bullsh** & my lawyers are just leading me on. But Dad says that we aren’t losing any money so it isn’t hurting us. Though I think it would greatly help my case if I had a seizure in the midst of my hearing. Though I think it needs to be a severe one where I throw things & hit people. yep, I have those kind still. If I was lucky, or unlucky, I would throw a pen at the judge & miss. Though then we probably wind up in jail or the hospital. Either one would be horrid cause of the strobe lights, lol. But mom says we can’t do that. Though if SSN sends me to another bloody psychiatrist or psychologist I may throw a bloody hissy fit at them. I don’t talk about myself to strangers, much less with ones that like to play mind games. If I have a problem then I talk to my parents, if that doesn’t help then I go & tell it to my babies, then forget about it. Problem solved. If I can’t change it then there is no reason for me to stress about it.

New Theme?

If you follow me on Twitter then you have probably read that I am wanting a new theme. So yeah, I am working on a new one, but I wouldn’t be in a rush to see it. It is going to be quite plain, fluid, one-column. At least, so far it is. Though you never know what I will actually come up with. :p

Well, I believe that is all for now. Though I will probably have more pictures soon. So until then, BYE!
